    Unknown cam performance

This is a bit old now, but I run that Camtech cam in a turbo'ed 250 and ran it NA for a while. It is a perfect HWY cam with 2.92 or 2.77 gears and can be used with an auto and stock converter. It suits an otherwise stock setup. Std springs are even ok. I recon Camtech's cam below this one should have been std. Both are perfect for how Ford planned for a 250 to be driven and are nice for cruising around. With a 5 speed and 3.23 gears I probably would go bigger (depending on what the car is used for) than the 208 cam, but no more than the 218 deg cam if it is a regular driver. The 14892 Crow used to be the go to cam.

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

Yep look i think id love a 2 door, but to me it makes no difference. actually ive said it before, my favourite Mk1 is still an estate. The way a member of the RSOCV put it recently is, owning a more door means having the same amount of fun as the snobs in their two doors, for less money. im pretty excited too. if all goes to plan, it will be running corner bumpers up front, deep dish steelies, 1600 with alloy rocker cover, and a 5 speed. the 5 speed isnt urgent, because they are hard to get, but its the perfect time to do the conversion. If i cant find a 5 speed in time to put the running gear back in, I will get the Recaro seats fixed up (and installed) instead with the money i would spend on a gearbox.

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

I made a start on the escort today, pulling it apart. I havent done much. But over the next 3 days, im expecting to have it down to pretty much a bare shell. so engine and gearbox out too. The 1300 is unlikely to go back in, so I am actively hunting for a 1600 now. After meeting with Mark yesterday, to discuss the final list of things to do on the car, he believes I will have a few thousand bucks to spare out of the insurance money once he is done with it. with the spare money, im going to try track down a T9 5 speed manual for the car, to go with a 1600. Im picking up another set of wheels tomorrow for the car, which Mark is going to spray for me while its in the panel shop. He said he was not willing to spray my RS 4 spoke wheels for me, because of how time consuming it is to work on those wheels. it would basically take up another staff member's full day of labour just on the wheels. But, I did ask him if he would be willing to spray a set of deep dished steel rims for it, and he is happy to do that. so tomorrow im picking up a set of 13x6", reverse banded steelies for the escort. The deep dish rims, with chrome hub caps, i think is going to look great against the fresh paint. I also learned something new about the escort today. For as long as ive owned it, ive hated how the silly wiper arms could not be help up away from the windscreen. Well, they can be haha They have this little lever under the base, that rotates and holds the arm up away from the screen. its also the locking mechanism to hold the arms onto the spline. On Boxing Day, I ordered myself a new (toy) DSLR camera. The next couple of photos are taken on it. I am so in love with the new camera I start on the interior tomorrow, which should be all out tomorrow, then the weekend will be spent ripping the running gear and brake booster out.

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

Yes, I am fortunate to be in the position to have a few MK1 Escort 2 doors. They are now quite expensive. I also wish I had hung onto the MK2 2 doors.....

I'm so glad you are doing this. MK1 Escort more door is my least favorite of the ones we got, yet I love this car and what you have done with it. Really looking forward to how this turns out, and perfect choice with the 1600 Kent and Type 9

This arrived in the post today, not sure if it goes on upside down or downside up + now i think the bolts that came with the adaptor plate are too short now to bolt the carb down aswell as the throttle bracket. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk

Will still soumd like a bag of shit!!!, it has a standard exhaust fitted atm cos i was planning to go for a rwc & get it registered in my name. Sure sounds better with the twin 2.5". Im confident it will perform much better than the TQ was

Ok so the clear hose pictured that's the one that was on the float bowl so that can be blocked off & the black one that went to the front of the TQ thats the one that needs to be fitted to the air filter base im assuming? Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk

Ok gotcha now. You will either have to install a fitting into the air cleaner close to the carby entry or just hide/remove that purge hose altogether. If you leave it disconnected rather than hooked up to the air cleaner, there will likely be a waft of fuel smell constantly coming out of the charcoal can, especially on hot days when there is more vapour being produced out of the tank. Don't block it though, your fuel tank needs to breathe through the can. Back when I was a kid, my XB ballooned its tank out from 80 to 92 litres when it somehow failed to vent. My dad (who owned it then) only discovered this when he went to fill it up and noticed that it took way too much fuel compared to normal. The other hose (I presume) went from the float bowl on the ThermoQuad back down to the can. That should be plugged off there, just a short bit of hose with a screw in it will do. Your Holley isn't sealed so technically isn't an emissions carby like your TQ was. It just vents the bowls through the small passages on top at the entry to the throats, to be burnt up by the engine. When stationary (not running), the fuel vapour will waft out of these vents and out through the air cleaner. This is why old cars with these kinds of carbys always smell like fuel.
