    Boingk's F250 4x4

R 1975 Y June, which is unusual as it has the steel dash not the later plastic dash which is in most 75's, 73/74 had the steel dash, Sido number on the ID plate should be 73613 F250A 4WD C.Cab 3379 mm W/B 3493 kg GVM Cab chassis or 73614 F250A 4WD style side box 3379 mm W/B 3493 kg GVM #did read a f truck forum post that said the F250 4x4's came from canada which is why the dash is different for a 75, open chamber heads have 2 low bits with once being longer then the other, Closed chamber has 3 low bits about same size,

EL ecu upgrade to EA-ED or XG.

That's no good Revhead. I thought the tune came loaded on the j3 ready to roll. Anyway I think I have the answer to my base timing question. Base timing for EA-ED or XG is 10 degrees BTDC. Base timing for EL is 0 degrees or TDC. If you are putting an EL ecu into an EA-ED or XG you need to: 1. Get the engine to operating temp. 2. Connect a timing light and put the original EA-ED or XG ecu into diagnostic mode with bridging wire. 3. Set the base timing to TDC or 0 degrees instead of the normal 10 degrees BTDC base timing. 4. Stop engine, unplug diagnostic mode bridging wire. Connect new EL ecu. 5. Start engine and should run spot on. Don't know why that info is not on the t.i. performance site with the upgrade info . Otherwise your running at 10 degrees advanced on the EL ecu. Thanks to Thom, Ozy mechanic and me for figuring it out. 4L SOHC rule! Sent from my S21 using Tapatalk

    Boingk's F250 4x4

Ah good stuff mate, glad its done well for you. I certainly wouldn't be going back to it if I wasn't impressed. I remember thinking at the time it was a pretty decent all rounder; sounds good, check. Drives well, check. Good performance lift over stock, check.

    Boingk's F250 4x4

Thanks gents, and top illustration there FORD_MAN! Thanks for the numbers also, I don't doubt that this is a total mismatch - a recabbed 4WD with a V8 thrown in for good measure, perhaps? I also go by the scallops and it does look to be a 351... of course, I could also have the rare and majestic performance 302 with 351 heads I'll know for sure once they're off. I'm planning to do similar to what I did with my last build; so resprung and mildly ported 302 heads on a 351 with the Elgin E-907-P camshaft (219@50, 505 lift), plus headers and decent exhaust. I'm weighing up whether to use a generic HEI dizzy or not as I have had good success with them in the past. Cheers - boingk

That's a great photo of the scallops I mentioned, probably the best illustration of the differences Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk

EL ecu upgrade to EA-ED or XG.

Thing is, before I put all this running gear in my ea, it ran perfectly, in the eb xr6 it was in now its in my ea, it's rich as, like 40 litres to do 20 ks, Sent from my ATU-L22 using Tapatalk

EL ecu upgrade to EA-ED or XG.

Thing is I have no specs when I bought my running gear, except a load of shit, told to me by the seller, also I don't have $400 to pay them for their tune, on top of paying $400 already, I might have a mate who will put his tune onto my chip Sent from my ATU-L22 using Tapatalk

EL ecu upgrade to EA-ED or XG.

The way I interpreted it is that you need the J3 to remove feature the EL computer runs that you don’t need on earlier cars. But hey, I don’t own an E series, so I clearly interpreted that wrong. Yes I read the information correctly. @revhead I believe if you buy the chip and tuner as a package they send you a blank chip to write your own tune. Mine came with the tune loaded to suit the engine specs I had given. Obviously they can’t get it 100% without having it on a dyno or a way to log the AFRs.

    88 XF heater tap

Buy a Tridon thermostat gasket, they're adhesive on one side so you can "glue" the thermostat into the housing before assembly

    88 XF heater tap

i always use a goop of some sort (silastic/aviation gasket cement etc) with the gasket, so kind of glue the thermostat in the recess before bolting it together

    88 XF heater tap

it's in the engine bay, close to the firewall under the inlet manifold, easy to reach. are you sure it had/has enough coolant in the radiator? usually the taps just rust, i think the default is ON and vacuum closes it.

    Alloy Head XFlow Header Flange

Here's a CAD Alloy XFlow header flange for anyone who wants to make their own manifold. I've got it at 12mm thick for turbo manifolds. I've also got a dxf file to send directly to laser cutters to save coin having it formatted. PM me and I can email it. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
